This device is meant to help 3rd world countries who do not have access to small containers. This device could be used to protect from animals and have a more sanitary place to put items like spices, pills, or any other small valuable object.
Bill of Materials
Food safe filament if using for food. Some food safe filaments can be found here.
Could use other filaments if it is not used for edible items.
Technical Specifications and Assembly Instructions
Download all the STL files for the project for the device at YouImagine.
If you want to make a larger container, change the dimensions, download the OpenSCAD files and customize them to however you want.
Print time was 2 hours and 19 minutes with these settings
Standard options in OpenSCAD
PLA filament
1.32 mm wall thickness
.2mm layer height
50mm/s speed
15% infill density
Printing temp of 200 C
Assembly is pretty intuitive. The keyBase is the insert for the bottom holder, while the key file is for any additional storage added into the OpenSCAD file. Normal settings would require 1 keyBase and 1 key print along with the container print.
Common Problems and Solutions
Tolerances can be a bit finicky. If you are not very familiar with tolerances, I would recommend a smaller print to test them. The standard tolerance in the OpenSCAD works but doesn't stick well with repeated uses. May need to make the tolerances smaller.
Assuming $20/kilogram, it would cost $.38 to print all the pieces (with no customizations to OpenSCAD and 1 piece each), thus having a 77% decrease in cost for the standard settings
