Cones

With triangles being a core part of the Hexayurt design, many different sided shapes become options. These shapes are mostly used as roof pieces to create yurts under by adding walls, but a key design consideration that can be seen is the expansion into Winged Designs.

The designs between 3-6 sides have easier to make triangles. Use a 4x8 sheet, cut across the diagonal, and join together. For the 7-12 sided designs, you need thinner triangles. Start with a 4x8 sheet, cut it in half to make 2x8 sheet, then cut the diagonals to make thin isosceles triangles.

The biggest problem with cones as a stand alone shelter is the angle of the wall. Having a slope makes it very difficult and impractical to add a door.

Hexacones

The Hexacone is the most widely used cone, as a roof for the Classic Hexayurt as well as the walls for the Quaddome. We will use it as an example to show to to make a proper folding cone.
