Integrated self-assessment page
To receive objective feedback on your basic surgical skill technique or your entire open appendectomy technique, you can record yourself completing these tasks on your cell phone camera and upload them to our Cloud Artificial Intelligence Assessment. Below, you will find the specific instructions on how to record your procedure. Remember, to receive appropriate feedback, it's important to follow these directions.
Creating the Camera Stand
To build the camera stand, you will need two, 2 inch binder clips and one, 1.25 inch binder clip. When using the camera stand, you will need tape and a hard surface to securely mount the stand.
Step-by-step Procedure to Create the Camera Stand
Positioning the Camera Stand
We have standardized the position of the camera stand to improve the feedback that you will receive from artificial intelligence. Elevate your camera stand such that the lens is 30 cm above the surface of your open appendectomy model (or the plastic container containing the glove for the basic surgical skills). Ensure your camera lens is 21 cm away from the closest edge of the open appendectomy model (or the plastic container containing the glove for the basic surgical skills).
These measurements are the length and width of a standard sheet of copier/notebook paper.
Artificial Intelligence Assessment Framework
Your assessment and feedback will be based on the binary framework below. This framework matches the instructions you were given in the Cognitive Task Analysis. Your feedback will ask you to review different components of the Cognitive Task Analysis and videos.
